About Us : NATPU is a non political non profit organization set up in 1991 to assist the tribal peoples in the Jawadhu Hills near Vellore in Tamil Nadu, South India, irrespective of caste or religion; it tries to help them by offering more opportunities for education and training. The tribal peoples are very poor and live in remote areas with little access to education or health facilities. Child labour and delinquency are common, and women in particular have very hard lives. .

NATPU is registered Under the Tamilnadu Societies Registration Act,1975 as a non profit society (No.TN 107/1991). It is also registered under FCRA (Foreign Contributions Regulation Act) to receive overseas funding (No.07595980200)..

What We Do?

Tution Centre

In the evenings tution classes are conducted to supplement as remedial classes for children who need additional coaching.

Vocational Training

Typewritting, Tailoring and Computer Classes are Conducted in the Centre.

Medical Camps

The tribal people have many medical problems but little or no access to health centres or hospitals. Scabies and boils are often found in children, while sexually transmitted diseases are very common in both men and women.

Middle School

The organization has been running NATPU Nursery and Primary School From 1991. The School is being upgraded to Middle School (upto 8th standard) with the approvel of the authorities of Tamilnadu Education Depaertment.

Residence Facilities

NATPU was Running Tribal Students Hostels seperaterly for Boys and Girls from 1991 to 2010 in Vellore. Under Instructions from Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the facilities have been shifted to NATPU centre in Amirthi Itself.

The Tamilnadu state government tribal welfare department introduced a new scheme for supporting NGO to run tamil and english medium residential school through their new GO No () so we need funds to have proper infrastructure and maintain the present building.
